Welcome to the Atlantic Alano Club

The Atlantic Alano Club's purpose is to provide a place for any person seeking recovery to come as a safe haven, free from drugs and alcohol. We welcome all persons in recovery and hope to assist them in recovering from whatever their addiction may be.

Although primarily a gay and lesbian club, we welcome all persons in recovery and their friends, regardless of their sexual orientation.

Our primary purpose is to ensure a loving, nurturing environment providing opportunities for personal growth, development of fellowship, and increased community awareness of the Club and its commitment to personal recovery.

The Atlantic Alano Club board of directors, and its members, envision the Club reaching an ever widening geographical area, and becoming one of the major gay and lesbian centers for the recovery of alcohol and substance abuse in Southern California.

Pride Parade Instructions

There will be a Pre Party for all interested in marching in the 2013 Gay Pride Parade, on Sunday at 7:30am. The Pre Party will be at Trolley Park, on Redondo and Ocean. For those all those interested in Marching in the Parade, they should plan on arriving early, and the AAC will be at space 118, with the AAC Banner and Yellow Hummer. Marching in the Parade will begin at 10:30am.

Gay Pride 2013 Preparation

Gay Pride weekend is coming fast. Some of our fellowship have been working hard to make a strong showing by volunteering at the festival, or marching in the Parade! Here is a link to some of the signs that were painted for the LGBT PRIDE Parade.

Our Buildings and Volunteer Chair and the BV Committee was responsible for the new, bright look of the club, after remodeling. They did such a good job, Al E., the BV Chair, was reelected to his position! Please visit this link for photos of the club after the remodel!

Membership Tracking Application

What is new with Membership at the Atlantic Alano Club? Utilizing state of the art encryption, the are using a secure membership tracking application to track memberships on our site. All AAC Members can register for a username and password to view their membership expiration date online securely. For members current with their dues and have received an email from us, please visit the Membership page, and click Forgot Password to start the process of creating a new password, or registered members can even login with their google username and password to gain access to the Members Area of atlanticalano.

Pride Painting Pizza Party

In preparation for the Gay Pride Festival, there will be a sign painting and pizza party! Bring your creative thinking caps and appetite for pizza and fellowship! The sober event will be this Thursday, May 9th, at 3pm, at the AAC.

An Appeal to Vote for All Current Members

We, at the Atlantic Alano Club, are in great need of our current members to vote. On the ballot will be candidates for the next Board of Directors and whether the By Laws as revised by Ad Hoc chair Stephanie L, should be formally adopted.

A vote can be cast by our dues paying members 1) in person, at the General Membership Meeting on Saturday, April 27th, at 3pm, or 2) by proxy, filling out the updated, 7 candidate proxy form, either submitted electronically, or in person, in the drop safe.

Change to Next Board Meeting Date

The Atlantic Alano Club Board of Directors monthly meeting has been rescheduled from Saturday, April 13th at 2pm to Saturday, April 20th at 2pm. All PAID Members who would like to have input at the meeting must be placed onto the agenda no later than Thursday, April 18th. General Membership Meeting Agenda

On April 27th, at 3pm, a General Membership Meeting will occur in which the following items are of utmost importance:

1. Changes to the AAC ByLaws will be voted upon.
2. New Members to the Board of Directors will be elected.

Please remember to make sure your dues are current, and please show your pride in our club, by participating in the General Membership Meeting.

St. Patrick's Sober Event Report

St.Patrick's Day at the Atlantic Alano Club was an awesome event!

Thanks to all that brought food for our potluck!

The festivities were made extra special with our guest performance group, THE PLASTIC PATTIES!

This was the first time I actually celebrated this holiday, and the event made it worth celebrating again and again! I have posted parts of their performances on youtube and you can find them through my facebook posts!

This was the Plastic Patties' first performance and we all were truly grateful for the joy of that experience!

The next big event is Gay Pride weekend, Volunteering at the Drink Ticket Booths and Marching in the Parade. In the mean time we are working on the Speaker's Bureau to do 12-step outreach at our local high school, colleges, and health fairs! So please reach out to me and our fellow board members to help make a difference!

General Membership Meeting

As per Article IV, Section I, Paragraph III of the By-Laws, our Semiannual General Membership Meeting will be held at 3pm on Saturday, April 13th, 2013. There will be a minimum of 4 Open Board Positions. Basic requirements are a minimum of one year continuous sobriety, current membership and demonstrated service work at the AAC. Please see a Board Member for further information. Now is the time to be planning on a new generation of Board Members to take the opportunity and continue moving the Club in a positive direction.

New Club Manager

Please help us in welcoming our new Club Manager Dan S who started his new position here at the Club this past Monday. Dan has worked for many years in the non profit sector. Most recently he was serving on the Atlantic Alano Club Board of Directors as the club treasurer. It is with much gratitude and pride that we welcome him in his new position.
