Statement of Need in Our CommunityThe Atlantic Alano Club offers a wide range of health and wellness programs to the community it serves such as providing meeting space for Alcoholics Anonymous; Crystal Meth Anonymous; Sexual Compulsive Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and other 12- step programs.Most recently we are tracking a surge of membership in the areas of Sexual Compulsives Anonymous (SCA) and Crystal Meth Anonymous (CMA) meetings that address addictions associated with the merging of sex and drugs in the gay community. We have also added a Dual Diagnosis Anonymous (addiction and mental health issues) meeting to our schedule. We, the membership of the Atlantic Alano Club, have been lost and alone in our addictions. We have experienced the fear and prejudices of society relating to our disease and our sexuality. We have found much freedom among the fellowship provided to us through 12 step programs. The Atlantic Alano Club offers an essential service to us by providing a safe place for us to come together in recovery. |
